Grove Primary School

 At Grove we want to offer all children the best possible chance to succeed, regardless of their background and starting points. A large proportion of our children have English as an additional language, and we want to support them to become fluent and confident in the English language. 

 Proficiency in English assessments are completed with any EAL children that join Grove.  The assessment identifies gaps in their understanding of the English language and provides guidance on how best to support these children to access the curriculum.  Wellcomm is used to support EAL children in Reception and Year 1 and EAL Hub along with other resources such as Pobble and Languagenut help to support children in Year 2 onwards.  Proficiency in English tests are taken termly to assess what progress has been made.
